Scavenger Spotlight
Are you a Cincinnati native?
No, but I’ve lived in Cincinnati for 13 years now, so it feels like home! I’m originally from Pittsburgh and went to college in Virginia, but I moved to Cincinnati for my first job after school and never left!
What’s your favorite part about Cincinnati?
How could I pick one? I love the affordability, access to many different cultural things, the good restaurants, distinctly different neighborhoods, and all of the beer!
Favorite spots in Cincinnati?
Bellevue Park in Clifton (the ultimate view of the city), a seat at the bar at Longfellow in OTR (when it’s safe again!), Serpentine Wall for exercising and watching the river go by, and Findlay Market.
Favorite neighborhood?
Over-the-Rhine, because it’s home! Clifton Gaslight District would be a close second because I think it’s very charming.
How do you spend your time (your work, your passions, your ways of working through the pandemic)?
I spend most of my time working and hanging out with my husband Michael and our dog son, Louie. Together, we own a boutique design studio, Edelmade. We’ve worked together for 5 years now, and it’s truly the highlight of my life! When we aren’t working, I love exercising, reading, trying new recipes, real estate stalking, and taking long walks throughout the city with Louie and Michael.
What are you currently reading (this can be anything, not just a book)?
I look forward to the Thingtesting newsletter that comes into my inbox every Thursday morning. It’s a super cool company that tests and writes about direct-to-consumer start-up companies and their products. I’m about to start Ruth Reichl’s novel, Delicious! as well as a non-fiction book by Ari Weinzweig called A Lapsed Anarchist’s Approach to Being a Better Leader.
What drew you to UCBC?
I like trying to figure out locations without the coordinates! I also think you do a great job introducing your followers to so many different authors!
Anything else you’d like to share?
First, if you love reading, you should follow The Mercantile Library on Facebook. They often have a post where you tell them what you’ve read recently and loved, and they will respond with a book recommendation. It’s so fun. Secondly, If you had a hard time concentrating on reading during the pandemic, have no fear! I was right there with you. I had a lot of trouble allowing my mind to get lost in books, but we will all get back to reading eventually!
